How do you work with half drilled components?
I have absolutely no idea where to even start. I have a half drilled faceted quartz teardrop that I'd like to make into a solitaire pendant, but I am at a complete loss about the correct way to go about doing it.
Get a screw eye or an eye pin finding, or make your own eye pin from a fairly large gauge wire (18 is the smallest I'd go; 16 would be better if it'll fit into the drill hole.) Make sure it fits into the drill hole and isn't too long. Trim any excess length, of course, with a wire cutter. Get some good epoxy or one of the Goop glues (Amazing Goop or Crafters' Goop would be my picks.) Do NOT use Superglue for this. Put a good amount of the glue in the hole and push the pin or screw end of the finding into the hole. Tape in place if needs be and let it dry at least 50% longer than the package recommends. If you're impatient, your piece may never set quite right. Be sure to put the pin in so the loop is in the correct orientation.
