Every time i play call of duty 2 on my pc it just shuts down?
Every time i play call of duty 2 on my pc it just shuts down?
I play for about 20mins it just shuts down with out notice or a warning my laptop is not getting hot or anything my fan kicks on and off every once in awhile please help me fix this problem any answers would be great thanks!
Spontaneous shutdowns are generally the result of one of two things:
1. Overheating
2. A short, potentially in your powersupply
If it is ONLY happening when you play call of duty 2, then my guess is that its most likely the overheating. My suggestion is this:
Uninstall/reinstall call of duty
Run a scandsk (not sure what your computer config is, so google how to do this, depending on your OS etc)
If you have access to another PC, try installing CoD2 on that and see what happens. If it DOESNT shut down the other PC, then you know the problem is on your computer. If the scandsk shows nothing (and I venture to guess it wont), then my guess is that your laptop's vid card is overheating.
I had a similar issue with warcraft on an old P4 that ran very, VERY hot, and the computer would shut down without warning. It did ok if I was ONLY running wow, but if I tried to run anything else simultaneously? KABOOM.
Again, don't know what kind of computer you have unfortunately, so I can't give more detailed information, but best guess from the info you've given is that your computer is having a heat stroke (the 20 minute time frame is about right for a computer's temp to reach "warning: shut down" levels).
